Modern Eichler Remodel: Week 14

October 1, 2018

Week 14:

Slow progress this week, but we have a final kitchen design and are ready to order!

Henrybuilt Design

We’ve now approved the final kitchen designs which means HB can start the fabrication phase. Right now, I’m assuming we won’t be seeing these cabinets until January 2019.

We have a few quick renders, but can share more designs when fabrication starts.

Tree Removal

Before we start work to replace the roof, we need to remove two large pine trees and some rotting landscaping around the house. Here’s a few pics of the trees that have to come down and the estimate to remove them… yikes!

General Contractors

We’ve finally started interviewing general contractors, while we wait for the final structural drawings to be completed. Luckily there are 3 really good options for GCs in Marin that have all worked on Eichler’s before. Fingers crossed that the conversations go well, and we can get someone under contract by Nov. 1st.

Do you have a kitchen right now? I seem to recall that you demolished it.
We had a tree taken down in Tahoe that was not that close to the house. When it is closer to your house the removal is harder. I think we paid $800. Be sure to get multiple quotes for everything…. they can range in price significantly. Sorry – tree removal is a bummer to spend money on. There are so many other ways you would like to spend your money, I am sure!

Thanks, Andi for the insight! Yet another thing to research, but in the end the property will look great without a dead tree hanging over it 😉
