Fire Sprinklers
And of course with one step forward in construction, you sometimes take one step backwards. We’ve learned that since we are going to be “touching” more than 50% of the house in demo, flooring, or construction – we now need to abide to new fire code standards. One of these major stipulations being, that since we are in a wildfire zone – we are now required to install a residential fire sprinkler system. What!?!
Yes, it’s an unexpected expense and we’ve been thinking of ways to “out-smart” the rule. But in the end, we realized that yes – it’s going to be expensive, but – if it means our house doesn’t burn to the ground, we are onboard.
Here’s a quick image of what a residential fire sprinkler unit looks like – not that bad, right?
More news to come next week as we have all the dying trees removed and receive quotes for asbestos abatement and new windows + doors. $$$
