Week 5:
We are making slow but steady progress in the planning phase this week. The architect has sent out a measuring specialist (yes, this exists) to measure every square inch of the property. From those measurements a CAD model will be created and we’ll see an accurate schematic of the house and land as it currently stands, often called the “as-built plan”.
Props to the measuring team who spent 6+ hours on the property today. We’ll share a peak of the schematics when they are ready in a few weeks.
In parallel we’ve been moving forward with Henrybuilt on the kitchen “zone” planning and reviewed these three options. We are leaning towards model #3 where we push into the laundry room space so that we can maximize the length of the kitchen. This is ideal so then we don’t have to put a cooktop in the island and have an ugly ventilation hood hanging down from the ceiling.
Henrybuilt zone planning
Schema A: Cooktop in island, same footprint
Schema B: Cooktop in island, increase kitchen footprint
Schema C: Push into laundry room, nothing in the Island, remove all walls/posts
